Victoria Klymyuk commented on the issue of mutual criticism of attorneys in reimbursement of expenses for professional legal assistance

With the recent changes in procedural law, rules to help the court determine the reasonable amount of legal costs in the case were established. This mechanism is based on the right of one party to request the court to reimburse the costs of professional legal assistance, while the other party is empowered to ask the court to reduce them, in the course of which mutual accusations of inappropriateness and redundancy of services provided by the attorney and frank criticism of his professional activity may arise.

Where is the line between such justification and the violation of one of the key principles of the attorney’s ethics – the principle of respect for the legal profession? The answer to this question can be found in the article by partner of Salkom Law Firm Victoria Klymyuk “Post Scriptum: Ethical edge”, published in the journal “Ukrainian Lawyer” (# 10 October 2019).
